New York BBB Looses Domain Name - What The $%^&?

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

dell.jpgJust when you thought you couldn’t be more conservative about the web sites you linked to, you find out that there is a little “bait-and-switch” going on right under your nose.

A few days ago, I realised I have been linking to a parked page with ads on it previously displaying my BBB member info. A BBB Logo was linked to THIS PARKED PAGE from 3 seperate areas of just one of my websites showing my member status and my online member status. How frustrating is that? Now I need to go through all of my sites and get this link down to avoid looking like a moran to clients who click on it.

If the New York BBB can oversee their domain registrations which this much carelessness, I suppose this could happen to any major company, regardless of size, or reputation. I haven’t been able to find any news on it yet, so I’m not even sure if anyone has even realised thus far, but they had better get their buts in gear cause this guy with the parked page has suddenly aquired a new revenue stream off of their error.

NamePros takes over top spot for domain forums.

namepros.gifIn a major reversal to last year’s survey, NamePros has come out on top in the 2007 Domain Name Wire survey for best domain name forum. NamePros received 55% of the vote compared to only 12% last year. DNForum, on the other hand, dropped from 43% to 35%.

NamePros’ popularity shows in its user statistics. As I write there are 1,078 people discussing domain names at NamePros in thousands of threads. DNForum is hopping as well with 1,295 visitors.

DNForum is trying to clean up its image. The forum banned posting trademark domains for sale and has started to use a points system to remove members who seem to visit only to pick fights. DNForum has strong leadership from domain investor Adam Dicker.

Many domainers rave about the help they are able to give and receive at NamePros. In general, it’s good to have a couple major domain forums. It leads to innovation and allows people of different skill levels to participate.

If your interested in trying something new, you’ll want to check out this Domain Name Forum. It’s run by the reputable Searchen Networks Inc., it’s fast loading, very clean, and is beginning to have some worth while discussions there. Take a look at it and concider signing up - I’m a member there.
